I was in Greenock last Month, off the Arcadia and was eager to visit Gibbs Hill, the place I was evacuated to and was there when the war ended.I also attended an all girls school in Gourock the name I cannot remember. I was so excited when we docked at Greenock and could not wait to hire a taxi to take me to these long ago places.Imagine my surprise when I approached a kindly looking man for advice on how to get there and he said Take one of our free tours which stops at Gibbs Hill. I was over the moon and although I knew the actual Estate would be changed completely the view onto the Clyde was the same as the memory I have .Watching the 2 Cunard ships arriving from America filled with young eager troops. Isabella and all her co- volunteers do a wonderful job, they made me feel so happy as I found it a most emotionally day. It took me 66 years to return to Greenock and I loved every minute of it. I shall try and come back next year (God willing)

Deb and I have moved to Virginia since our last trip to Scotland. Our grandchildren are there, and at our age, grandchildren are the “gold” in the “golden years!” Had an amazing time in Glaskow and Edinburgh (and throughout the country, but next time will avoid driving. It was pretty scary going round those round-abouts.

Hi,
I was born and brought up in Greenock I moved away to the Caribbean and then married an italian and moved to live in Italy I returned here with my family 4 years ago. My older daughter is being married next month in |Italy and for the occasion my husband will hire Highland dress he would like to wear the Inverclyde tartan because it is very nice and because he says that is his only claim to a tartan because he lives in Inverclyde. I ofcouse was delighted that he felt this way , unfortunately we have been unable to do so as neither Smiths nor Keogh & Savage have it, can anyone help with this?

Inverclyde truly has a treasure in all of the wonderful voluteers at ITG. They provided us with a fun and interesting day in your beautiful part of the world. I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Scotland and Greenock in particular, because of these ladies’ and gentlemen’s hard work and hospitality. THANK YOU!!! Lorimer Blanton

My husband and I were so impressed with your voluteers on our visit to your city on the Grand Princess last month. What a surprise to be greeted by men in kilts shaking our hands and welcoming us to Scotland. We took your tour down to Gourock and the girls gave us so much information on the whole area. The weather was perfect the whole day as was the hospitality. The bagpipes and the volunteers waving us good-bye as the ship sailed is a lovely memory of Scotland that we all took away with us.

Hello All,
My hasband and I met Andy S. while we were on a C.I.E. tour last May. We looked up your web site, we both are impressed. We celebrated our forthieth anniversary in our beautiful country, though we did encounter difficulty driving there. We stayed at a B.& B. for one extra night near Lanark. We were unable to trace our anscester Daniel Clyde at that local library. It’s been fun chatting with you....Deb
